Frequently Asked Questions
QUESTION
What do you mean by "Prophetic Ministry"?
ANSWER
We are all prophetic. The Lord speaks to all of us. We just need to learn how to listen. Just as Elisha spent years in training with Elijah - our ministers have been trained and discipled to listen to the voice of God for you personally and discern those spirits that may be of influence in your life that you may not be aware of.
1 Corinthians 14:39-40 - Therefore, my brothers, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.
Other Scriptures: Acts 2:17-18; 1 Corinthians 13:9, 14:9, 14:31
QUESTION
What are "Generational Curses"?
ANSWER
A generational curse is something that appears consistantly or "generationally" within a family line. Such as, poverty, certain illnesses (i.e. cancer, athsma, bone disease, heart disease, obesity, etc.), premature death, alchoholism, drug abuse, sexual abuse, violence, among many others. You may already be thinking of an "issue" within your family line that seems to have followed you and your relatives.
This portion of the ministry deals with those specifically targeted issues within your family allowing that curse to be broken and healed. The immediate benefit is the freedom you will experience in your personal life. But the greatest is that this curse will no longer follow your children or grandchildren...from generation to generation.
We must remember, as stated in Exodus 20, that for unforgiven sin in our families lines, or dedications made by them to "idols", that Lord said he would "punish the children" - repentance and forgiveness wipes clean our slates before His eyes. You may say that this "curse" in your family has gone on longer that three or four generations. However, also keep in mind that UNTIL repentance and forgiveness takes place, the enemy has no reason to stop these issues from following you and your children.
Exodus 20:5-6 - You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand {generations} of those who love me and keep my commandments.
Other Scriptures: Exodus 3:15, Psalms 24:3-6, Isaiah 34:10, Luke 50:1 (not exhaustive)
QUESTION
What is a "Stronghold"?
ANSWER
Ephesians 6:11-13 - Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
We must remember we do not wrestle against flesh and blood. Our enemy has its own kingdoms set up on this earth, its own strongholds and principalities. These same exist in our own lives. Impregnable fortifications designed to keep us locked up in the tallest towers. Prisoners and slaves to those areas we have given legal right to exist.
Once we remove that legal right to have influence over our life, our thinking, and our functions, then we are able to destroy those strongholds and replace them with the Stronghold of the Lord.
Psalm 144:2 - He is my loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me.
QUESTION
What is the enemy's "Legal Right"?
ANSWER
The enemy of our Lord is a legalist to the extreme. The best example of this is when Jesus was in the desert for 40 days and encountered the devil who attempted to use His own word against Him. (Matthew 4) Satan knows the written word. And he will twist it in his attempt to use it against us.
We are subject to the laws that govern us, and the consequences of tickets, fines or prison when we break the law. Say that we are caught going over the speed limit. This action gives specific authority to the law enforcement officer to give us a ticket, or, depending on how fast we were going, he may decide to take us in and impound our car. The key here is the authority he is given by our action in breaking the law.
When we break the laws of God, we open the door for the enemy to have a legal right to hold us accountable - and he does so with a vengence. He uses our guilt, shame and fear to manipulate the truth we are living in.
The only way to close this "legal" door we have opened is to seek His forgiveness and to forgive ourselves. To remove that legal right the enemy is all to willing to take advantage of and then remove him from our lives. Keep in mind, you can remove all the legal rights in your life, but until you assert the authority given to you by Christ, the enemy will stay and continue to cause problems.
This story provides the best example of how this authority works. Let's say you go to a local auto dealer an purchase your dream vehicle. You begin to make monthly payments, but find that the payments are becoming too much...and you fall behind, assessing late fees and those exciting phone calls from the bank gently reminding you that if you don't make a payment soon, they will be forced to repossess your dream vehicle. However, being blessed as you are you have a close personal friend who gives everything he has to help you. He goes to the bank and pays off your loan and returns to you with the title to the car (or Hummer... whatever, it's your dream!) - You now own the car and have the title to prove it. Soon after this, two men from the bank show up at your door telling you that they have come to reposess your vehicle. At this point, you have two choices. You can stand there feeling powerless as they drive away with your car... or....... you can show them the title! It's your car! You have the authority! And they don't! - We must assert our authority in the face of the enemy or he will walk all over us...because we let him. No more!
Once we remove the legal right the enemy has in our lives, we MUST assert that authority we have in the name of Jesus and refuse to believe that we are powerless to stop him as he interferes with what we have been called to do.
Ephesians 4:26-28 - "In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need.
